About Me

Hi!

My name is Cara Rosa. I am a food photographer living in Vancouver, BC, but frequently found south from Seattle to San Diego, my hometown. You can definitely call me a west coast girl, with a little bit of east coast attitude thrown in. (Hard not to pick up, I think, after living in the northeast US for 13 years, and with an Italian mom from New Jersey.) I love the beach, the sun, palm trees and warm weather, so I get asked frequently why I would ever move from California to Canada. My answer is, I also love clean air, walking, good manners, and looking out my downtown apartment window to see a mass of trees larger than Central Park. By February, I am pretty much done with winter, and in late May I'm wondering why I am wearing a sweater mid-day; but I adore the few magical weeks in Spring when the tree-lined streets explode in pink fireworks, fragile pale cherry blossoms opening and then falling like snow against a backdrop of star-shaped magnolias. I am learning to enjoy seasons. I travel to southern California enough to get my fill, and my lungs always thank me when I leave.

Since we're playing getting-to-know-you, I also love Mayan drinking chocolate, American poetry, Japanese teinei, the romance languages, documentary films & photography, social anthropology, triple creme brie, astrology, Project Runway, winery picnics, the human brain, my husband's cooking, and the perfect pair of jeans. In no particular order.

Speaking of my husband (herein referred to as "the Chef"), I can count the number of days we've spent apart during the two years we've been together on two hands. Aside from the traditional important relationship bonds of laughter, support, and mutual respect, imaginably, our life centers around food. So that's what this blog is about - restaurants, vegetarian/pescetarian recipes, photo shoots, food friends, events and other culinary adventures.

My photography portfolio can be seen on my website www.caratompkinsfoodphoto.com and on my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CTFoodPhoto.

Feel free to link back to my blog or website, but please don't use my photographs without my permission. I'm really nice, and I'll probably gladly be a contributor to whatever you're doing if you ask.

Thanks for stopping by! Don't be a stranger.
